RIGHTS BEFORE GOVERNMENT

Individual liberty is the foundation of a free society. Government does not grant our rights. Rights exist before government, and no political institution has the moral authority to violate them.

We support freedom of speech, expression, association, privacy, personal autonomy, economic freedom, and private property rights.

Freedom of association also includes the freedom to disassociate. Private individuals, businesses, churches, charities, clubs, families, and voluntary organizations must remain free to choose whom they work with, worship with, organize with, trade with, support, or refuse to associate with. A free society cannot exist if the state can force private citizens to violate their conscience, judgment, property rights, or voluntary consent. That includes compelled speech, forced association, forced contracts, forced endorsements, forced subsidies, or forced business relationships.

We oppose government interference in peaceful choices that do not violate the rights of others. We reject compelled speech, censorship, political targeting, unlawful surveillance, asset forfeiture without due process, and federal overreach justified through expansive interpretations of the Commerce Clause.

Private property is not a secondary issue. It is the practical foundation of personal freedom. Without property rights, economic freedom, privacy, and self-government collapse.

Goal

Defend civil liberties, protect private property, reduce government overreach, preserve freedom of association and disassociation, and restore the individual as the central unit of political life.

FREE PEOPLE NEED FREE MARKETS

Free people need free markets.

We support Austrian economics, entrepreneurship, competition, sound money, voluntary exchange, and the right of individuals to build, trade, save, invest, and work without being crushed by bureaucracy.

We oppose crony capitalism, corporate welfare, bailouts, regulatory capture, government-created monopolies, and centralized economic planning.

We reject the myth that regulation always restrains big business. Too often, regulation is written by the largest players in an industry to protect themselves from competition. Complex rules, licensing schemes, compliance costs, and bureaucratic barriers allow established corporations to lock out small businesses, startups, independent workers, and local competitors. That is not consumer protection. That is state-manufactured corporate dominance.

The Federal Reserve has distorted money, fueled inflation, enabled reckless spending, and transferred wealth away from working families and savers. We support dismantling the Federal Reserve’s control over money, ending government protection for corrupt banking practices, opposing fractional reserve banking backed by state privilege, and allowing competing currencies and decentralized financial systems.

Markets are not perfect because people are not perfect. But markets allow choice, competition, correction, innovation, and accountability. Central planning concentrates mistakes and forces everyone to pay for them.

Goal

Promote economic freedom, reduce regulation, end cronyism, restore sound money, and dismantle centralized economic control.

POWER CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE

Centralized power breeds corruption. Decentralized power creates accountability.

We support reducing the size, scope, and cost of government while returning authority to individuals, families, local communities, states, markets, and voluntary institutions.

Local government is not automatically virtuous, and decentralization does not make every policy just. But power closer to the people is easier to challenge, reform, replace, or resist than power buried in distant federal agencies and national institutions.

Decentralization is both a principle and a practical step. It moves decision-making closer to the people affected by it and makes political power more visible, more accountable, and less permanent.

We oppose federal mandates, permanent emergency powers, administrative rule by unelected bureaucrats, and political systems that move power away from citizens and into distant institutions.

Decentralization is not just an administrative preference. It is a defense against tyranny.

Goal

Limit government power, empower local communities, prevent corruption, and restore political accountability.

RIGHTS ARE NOT OPTIONAL

Civil liberties are not optional. They are not privileges granted during calm times and withdrawn during crises.

We support the full protection of the Bill of Rights, including free speech, religious liberty, privacy, due process, self-defense, protection from unreasonable searches and seizures, jury rights, and equal treatment under the law.

Government is different from private society. Because government acts with public authority and coercive power, it must provide equal protection under the law and equal access to public institutions, courts, services, legal processes, representation, and public safety for the citizens it serves. The state must not deny justice, due process, public services, or legal protection based on political viewpoint, religion, race, class, association, or personal identity.

We oppose mass surveillance, censorship, indefinite detention, political prosecution, warrantless searches, emergency orders that suspend basic rights, and government pressure campaigns designed to silence dissent through private companies.

We oppose corporate-state censorship and surveillance, whether carried out directly by government agencies or indirectly through technology companies, banks, payment processors, employers, universities, and media platforms pressured or incentivized by the state.

Government should not be allowed to outsource censorship, financial blacklisting, surveillance, or political punishment to private institutions.

A government that can violate rights during an emergency will eventually define everything as an emergency.

Goal

Protect individual rights, restrain government abuse, preserve equal protection under the law, ensure equal access to government institutions and legal processes, and defend the constitutional safeguards required for a free society.

FAMILY AUTHORITY AND CHILD PROTECTION

Children deserve protection, stability, and the chance to grow into adulthood before being pushed into irreversible decisions.

We support protecting minors from irreversible medical treatments, exploitation, coercive institutional pressure, and decisions they are not mature enough to fully understand. Meaningful consent for irreversible, life-altering elective treatments should require adulthood.

We support the central role of parents and guardians in raising children, making medical decisions, guiding education, and protecting their families from harmful state or institutional overreach.

We oppose government policies that bypass parents, undermine families, or place children under the authority of activists, bureaucrats, or institutions with ideological agendas.

This is not a call for expanding state power. It is a call to defend parental authority, uphold medical ethics, and protect children from irreversible decisions before they are capable of meaningful consent.

This position must remain narrow and rights-focused. It should not be used to expand state control over ordinary medical care, emergency treatment, parental judgment, or family life. The concern is irreversible elective harm to minors, institutional coercion, and policies that bypass parents before a child is capable of meaningful consent.

Goal

Protect children, defend parental rights, prevent irreversible harm to minors, and preserve the family as the primary institution of care and responsibility.

DEFEND AMERICA, DO NOT POLICE THE WORLD

America should defend itself. It should not police the world.

We support a foreign policy rooted in peace, trade, diplomacy, national defense, and military restraint.

We oppose endless wars, undeclared conflicts, nation-building, entangling alliances, foreign aid to corrupt governments, and the military-industrial complex that profits from permanent conflict.

We oppose a foreign policy shaped by defense contractors, intelligence agencies, foreign lobbyists, and permanent-war interests. Endless war is not only a failure of strategy. It is a system of incentives that rewards politically connected institutions while ordinary Americans pay the cost in lives, taxes, debt, inflation, and lost liberty.

America should be strong enough to defend itself and restrained enough not to confuse national defense with empire.

Congress must reclaim its constitutional authority over war. American troops should not be sent into conflicts without a clear constitutional basis, a defined mission, and direct connection to the defense of the United States.

We support the Defend the Guard initiative and efforts to prevent National Guard units from being deployed into undeclared foreign wars.

We also support withdrawing from international governing bodies that undermine American sovereignty or place foreign institutions above the rights of the American people.

Goal

End unnecessary military interventions, restore constitutional war powers, defend the United States, and pursue peace through strength, trade, and diplomacy.

JUSTICE, RIGHTS, AND RESTITUTION

A justice system worthy of a free society must protect rights, require restitution where possible, hold violent and fraudulent offenders accountable, and restrain the state from criminalizing peaceful behavior.

We support police accountability, due process, sentencing reform, proportional punishment, privacy protections, restorative justice, and community-based rehabilitation.

We oppose civil asset forfeiture, overcriminalization, mandatory minimums for nonviolent offenses, militarized policing, mass incarceration, and legal doctrines that shield misconduct from accountability.

The War on Drugs has failed. It has expanded state power, fueled black markets, destroyed families, militarized law enforcement, and filled prisons without solving addiction.

We support ending criminal penalties for peaceful drug possession and use, ending prohibitionist drug policy, and treating addiction as a medical, family, and community issue rather than a justification for endless state violence.

We also oppose using prohibition to criminalize peaceful commerce, production, banking, payment processing, insurance, or property use connected to substances adults choose to buy, sell, or consume, so long as there is no fraud, coercion, theft, violence, or violation of another person’s rights.

This is not about asking the government to bless personal choices. It is about removing the state’s power to cage peaceful people for what they consume or peacefully exchange.

Goal

Protect civil liberties, reform sentencing, increase accountability, end the War on Drugs, and build a justice system focused on rights, restitution, and public safety.

SOVEREIGNTY, ORDER, AND RESPONSIBILITY

The American Liberty Caucus supports a smart immigration system rooted in national sovereignty, secure borders, property rights, due process, personal responsibility, and the interests of American citizens.

We do not support open borders. The United States does not exist in a libertarian world. Other nations do not operate by libertarian principles, and America cannot allow foreign governments, failed states, cartels, hostile actors, or broken welfare systems to export their problems into American communities.

One of the few legitimate functions of the federal government is securing the national border. A secure border is not anti-liberty. It is one of the conditions that allows Americans to maintain freedom of movement within the country, preserve local order, and protect the communities, infrastructure, and public spaces funded and maintained by citizens.

Public spaces are not ownerless spaces. Parks, roads, schools, libraries, town centers, and civic institutions are paid for and maintained by taxpayers through local, state, and federal systems. Citizens have a rightful interest in using those spaces safely, freely, and as intended by the communities that sustain them.

We support making immigration easier for peaceful, productive, self-supporting people who want to work, build, assimilate, respect the rights of others, and contribute to American society.

We support a strong sponsorship-based immigration system with real accountability. Sponsors should be responsible for the immigrants they bring into the country, including financial support, compliance, and preventing abuse of the system. Immigration should be based on responsibility, not entitlement.

We oppose taxpayer-funded welfare benefits for non-citizens. If someone cannot support themselves, does not have a responsible sponsor, or would become dependent on public resources, they should not be admitted under the current system. America should not be a welfare magnet for the world.

We oppose the use of H-1B and other employment-based visa programs as corporate labor arbitrage. These programs should not be used to undercut American workers, suppress wages, replace domestic talent, or create a captive workforce tied to employer sponsorship. America should welcome peaceful, productive, self-supporting immigrants, but immigration policy must not become a subsidy for corporations seeking cheaper labor at the expense of American workers.

We oppose bureaucratic dysfunction that punishes lawful applicants while rewarding illegal entry. We also oppose visa abuse, fraudulent claims, human trafficking, cartel exploitation, and policies that undermine wages, public safety, assimilation, property rights, or the ability of American communities to govern themselves.

This is not a call for a larger surveillance state or a federal permission regime. It is a call for secure borders, accountable sponsorship, no welfare incentives, and an immigration system that serves America rather than political interests, corporate labor schemes, or global welfare pressures.

Border security must also remain bound by constitutional limits. It should not become a justification for national ID systems, warrantless surveillance of citizens, eminent domain abuse, militarized policing of peaceful people, or violations of due process. A secure border should protect citizens, property, public order, and national sovereignty without creating a domestic security state.

Goal

Secure the border, end welfare incentives, restore sponsorship accountability, prioritize American citizens, welcome peaceful and productive immigrants, protect property rights, preserve public order, uphold due process, and build an immigration system based on responsibility, assimilation, and ordered liberty.

SELF-DEFENSE IS A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT

The right to keep and bear arms is not negotiable.

We support the right of peaceful people to own, carry, and use firearms for self-defense, defense of property, and protection against tyranny.

We oppose gun control laws, firearm registries, assault weapon bans, magazine restrictions, arbitrary permitting schemes, and red flag laws that violate due process.

Responsible firearm ownership should be encouraged through culture, training, family, community, and voluntary institutions, not imposed through state control.

The Second Amendment is not about hunting. It is about self-defense, liberty, and the ability of the people to resist criminal violence and government tyranny.

Goal

Defend the right to keep and bear arms, repeal gun control laws, protect due process, and preserve self-defense as a fundamental human right.

PROPERTY RIGHTS AND ANTI-CORRUPTION

Taxation is not just an economic issue. It is a property rights issue.

We support reducing and ultimately eliminating coercive taxation wherever possible, simplifying the tax code, ending double taxation, cutting wasteful spending, and protecting the fruits of people’s labor.

We oppose excessive taxation, confiscatory tax policy, inflation as a hidden tax, endless deficit spending, and government systems that punish productivity while subsidizing dependency and political favoritism.

We also oppose tax complexity that benefits large corporations, lobbyists, accountants, and politically connected interests while punishing working families, small businesses, independent workers, and local entrepreneurs. A complicated tax code is not an accident. It is a tool of influence, favoritism, and control.

Simplifying and reducing taxation is not only an economic issue. It is an anti-corruption issue.

The IRS represents one of the most intrusive arms of the federal government. We support abolishing the IRS and reducing the size of government that makes intrusive taxation possible in the first place.

Simpler and less invasive tax structures may be practical transitional steps, but they are not the end goal. The end goal is a society where peaceful people keep far more of what they earn and where public needs are increasingly met through voluntary exchange, mutual aid, private charity, local support networks, and civil society.

Goal

Reduce taxes, abolish the IRS, end wasteful spending, protect property rights, and move toward a society funded by voluntary cooperation rather than coercion.

PATIENTS, DOCTORS, CHOICE

Healthcare should be centered on patients, families, doctors, competition, transparency, and choice, not bureaucracy.

We support a free-market healthcare system that reduces government interference, expands competition, increases price transparency, protects informed consent, and empowers individuals to make their own medical decisions.

We support Health Savings Accounts, direct primary care, medical innovation, alternative and emerging treatments, patient-directed care, community-based medical resources, personal responsibility, preventive care, and the right of patients to seek treatments of their choice without interference from state agencies, corporate gatekeepers, or politically captured medical boards.

Health Savings Accounts are not the final destination of healthcare freedom. They are a practical step toward giving patients more control over their own money, choices, and medical decisions.

We oppose insurance mandates, excessive regulation, certificate-of-need laws, medical censorship, coercive mandates, and unchecked power by agencies such as the CDC and FDA.

We also oppose healthcare policies that protect hospital systems, insurance companies, pharmaceutical giants, and politically connected medical institutions from real competition. Certificate-of-need laws, insurance mandates, opaque pricing, captured regulatory agencies, and excessive licensing restrictions drive consolidation, raise costs, and limit patient choice.

Healthcare freedom requires breaking the corporate-state cartel and restoring power to patients, families, doctors, independent practices, and voluntary medical networks.

We also oppose taxpayer funding for elective cosmetic procedures and elective abortion services.

The COVID era exposed how quickly public health can become an excuse for censorship, mandates, economic destruction, and violations of basic rights. There must be accountability for that overreach.

Goal

Build an affordable, innovative, patient-centered healthcare system driven by competition, transparency, medical freedom, and personal choice.

ABUNDANCE, RELIABILITY, INNOVATION

Energy policy should be built around abundance, reliability, innovation, and freedom.

We support a free-market energy system that allows domestic production, nuclear power, decentralized energy generation, technological innovation, and competition across all energy sources.

We oppose subsidies for all forms of energy. Government should not pick winners and losers. Markets should determine which energy sources succeed.

We oppose energy policy that uses regulation, subsidies, mandates, and permitting barriers to protect politically favored industries. Energy markets should not be controlled by federal planners, utility monopolies, climate bureaucrats, or corporate lobbyists.

Energy independence should come from removing barriers to domestic production, nuclear power, private investment, decentralized generation, and technological innovation, not from federal planning, subsidies, or political favoritism.

We support removing regulatory barriers to nuclear energy, encouraging private energy innovation, expanding domestic production, and protecting the environment through property rights, accountability, and technological progress.

We support resilient infrastructure, decentralized production, nuclear-powered shipping vessels, and repeal of the Jones Act to lower costs and improve trade.

Environmental responsibility does not require central planning. It requires property rights, liability, innovation, and respect for local communities.

Goal

Create abundant, affordable, reliable energy through markets, innovation, domestic production, decentralization, and environmental accountability.

UNELECTED POWER MUST BE RESTRAINED

The administrative state has become a fourth branch of government that writes rules, enforces rules, punishes citizens, and avoids accountability.

Federal agencies do not operate in isolation. Too often, they become partners with the industries they claim to regulate. Captured agencies protect incumbents, punish dissenters, block innovation, and turn bureaucratic power into corporate advantage.

The administrative state is not a neutral referee. Too often, it is the enforcement arm of the corporate-state alliance.

We support abolishing, dismantling, defunding, or radically restructuring federal agencies that violate constitutional limits, infringe on civil liberties, centralize power, or operate without meaningful accountability.

This includes the IRS, ATF, DEA, NSA, DHS, CIA, FBI, and other agencies that have abused authority, violated rights, or operated beyond constitutional limits.

Abolition is the correct end goal for agencies that exist to violate rights or enforce unconstitutional power. Defunding, restructuring, narrowing authority, and repealing enabling laws may be useful practical steps when they reduce harm and move power away from the federal bureaucracy.

We support repealing the PATRIOT Act, ending domestic surveillance abuses, restoring legislative authority to Congress, returning power to states and local communities, and requiring narrow authority, public transparency, strict accountability, and clear constitutional limits for any federal functions that remain during the transition.

Federal agencies should not be allowed to rule the country through unelected bureaucrats, secret courts, vague mandates, or weaponized enforcement.

Goal

Dismantle unconstitutional federal power, protect civil liberties, restore accountability, and return authority to the people, the states, and voluntary institutions.

FAMILIES, STUDENTS, AND COMMUNITIES

Education belongs to families, students, and communities, not federal bureaucrats, political activists, unions, or state-protected institutions.

We support school choice, homeschooling, private education, Education Savings Accounts, local control, curriculum transparency, vocational education, apprenticeship models, and competition in education.

We oppose federal control of education, Common Core-style mandates, ideological indoctrination in publicly funded institutions, excessive standardized testing, and bureaucratic systems that treat children like data points instead of human beings.

Parents have the primary right and responsibility to direct the education of their children. Public money should follow students and families, not protect failing systems.

We oppose education policies that protect failing institutions instead of serving students and families. Federal funding rules, accreditation systems, union-backed monopolies, administrative bloat, and one-size-fits-all mandates have made education less accountable, less flexible, and more expensive. Education policy should not exist to protect bureaucracies. It should empower families, teachers, students, and local communities.

We reject the factory-style model of education that treats children as standardized products to be sorted, managed, tested, and conditioned for compliance. Education should cultivate independent thought, practical skills, moral responsibility, civic understanding, creativity, entrepreneurship, and the ability to live as a free person.

We oppose the use of schools as vehicles for political indoctrination. Taxpayer-funded education should not be used to impose anti-liberty ideologies, undermine parental authority, conceal curriculum from families, or train children to serve the priorities of the state over the judgment of their parents and communities.

We also oppose the government-backed student loan system that has helped drive the exploding cost of higher education. When loans are subsidized, guaranteed, and protected from ordinary market consequences, colleges can raise prices while students are pushed into debt for degrees that may never justify the cost. This is not a free market. It is a state-backed debt pipeline.

Student loans should not be treated as risk-free revenue for universities and lenders while young Americans carry the burden. Institutions that encourage students to take on massive debt for low-return degrees should bear real financial accountability.

Education Savings Accounts and school choice programs are practical steps toward family control and educational freedom. They are not the final destination. The deeper goal is to break the government monopoly, restore parental authority, end state-created education cartels, and allow education to develop through families, communities, teachers, markets, and voluntary institutions.

We support expanding access to technical education, apprenticeships, lifelong learning, entrepreneurship, trade skills, and educational models that prepare people for real life, real work, and responsible citizenship.

Goal

Decentralize education, empower families, protect parental rights, oppose indoctrination, end state-created education cartels, increase educational choice, restore accountability in higher education, and replace bureaucratic control with innovation, competition, and voluntary learning.

LIFE, CONSCIENCE, AND PUBLIC FUNDING

The American Liberty Caucus recognizes that abortion is one of the most difficult and divisive issues in politics. Our members may not agree on every legal question, but we broadly affirm that human life has inherent value and that taxpayers should not be forced to fund elective abortion.

We oppose public funding for abortion services and reject the idea that government should compel citizens to subsidize procedures they believe end innocent human life.

Many within our caucus hold that elective abortion is morally wrong except when necessary to save the life of the mother. Others approach the issue through concerns about bodily autonomy, state power, and legal complexity. We do not pretend those disagreements do not exist.

But we do believe personal responsibility matters. We support a culture that encourages responsible choices, strong families, adoption, pregnancy support, voluntary access to contraception, and community-based assistance for mothers and children.

We support moving abortion policy away from federal judicial control, federal funding, and national bureaucratic mandates. Decentralizing the issue does not mean government owns the question of life, conscience, or moral responsibility. It means rejecting federal control, federal funding, and national judicial mandates while allowing the debate to move closer to families, communities, voters, and the states.

Goal

End taxpayer funding for elective abortion, respect the moral seriousness of unborn life, support mothers and families, encourage personal responsibility, and allow respectful debate within the liberty movement.
